I hope everyone is safe and well.

I would love to see some pieces of writing this week. Here are some ideas on writing activities:

  • What do you think is happening here?-
  • Why is the title ‘Dream Big’?
  • Is the girl touching the stars? Did she draw the constellation?
  • Is the animal beside her a dog? A wolf? Something else?
  • Why does it have trailing lines? Is it real? Is it her pet? Could it be a dæmon, like in Northern Lights?
  • Why are they standing on piles of books?
  • Does this picture have a message? What could it be?
  • On Yuumei’s website, this picture is accompanied by the caption, ‘Let your imagination grow.’ Why do you think this is?
  • Who is this man? Where has he come from? What does his clothing tell you about his character?
  • Do you think he is a good or bad character? Why?
  • What is he doing?
  • Is the bird friendly or is it going to attack him?
  • Describe the tower in as much detail as you can.
  • Why is it called ‘Dark Tower’?
  • What do you think the tower is used for? Does anyone live there? Are there many visitors?
  • What are the red things on the ground and in the air?
  • What sounds could you hear if you were inside the picture?
  • Use this picture as a story prompt. Include the dark tower as a setting, the man as a character and the bird as something else (a sidekick? A villain?).
  • Why is this picture called ‘Best Friends’?
  • Does the dragon belong to the boy, or does the boy belong to the dragon?
  • Who lives in the house?
  • Where does the dragon live?
  • How did they become friends?
  • Tell their story.
  • PSHE link: What is friendship? What makes a good friend? Can an animal be a person’s best friend? Could a robot?

Hi year 4,

Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend. My street had a social distancing party and we all sang some songs. 

This week I’d like to know what you can remember about our science topic…Teeth and the human digestion. I was enjoying teaching this topic so it was a shame we couldn’t finish it 😦 

Here are some questions 

  1. 1) What is a herbivore, omnivore and carnivore?
  2. 2) How many types of teeth does an adult have? 
  3. 3) What are the functions of our teeth?
  4. 4) Do all animals have the same types of teeth? 
  5. 5) How does food travel through our digestive system?
  6. 6) Can you draw and label our digestive system?

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is keeping safe and busy. I am enjoying receiving pictures and emails from lots of children in my class, they’re putting a big smile on my face.

Here are some activities the children have been doing:

Sooren has made his own science shed and is enjoying working inside the shed.
Tomasz and his brother are enjoying playing together in their garden.

The weather is set to be very hot over the next few days, so here are some activities you could do:

  • Make a house for bug using sticks and leaves ( see picture below)
  • Draw some of the wildlife you can see from your window or in the garden ( blackbirds, bees, sparrows or butterflies)
  • Paint stones or rocks that are around your garden ( you could write a positive message or a happy symbol) ( see picture below)
  • Make a bird box using left over cardboard or milk bottles ( see picture below)
  • Create a treasure hunt and try to find a leaf, a flower, a stick, a stone etc…
  • Shadow drawing – pick your favourite toy and draw their shadow
  • Create your own spelling game- write any 16 letters and see how many words you can make ( see picture below)
  • Create your favourite snack ( check out rainbow toasties online – see picture below)

Hope you all had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the sunny bank holiday.

I have been on lots of walks and continuing to keep myself busy by baking, exercising, painting and keeping in touch with my friends and family. Below are my brownies, they were eaten very quickly.

I have enjoyed receiving photos and updates from children in my class, who seem to be very busy but missing school a lot. You can send in photos of what you have been up to/examples of work to peelhall.primaryschool@salford.gov.uk.

Morning all, I found this online yesterday and thought some many enjoy watching, apparently they do it every Friday. It would be educational and also fun to watch your favourite animal on tv, whilst learning lots about them. For those that do choose to watch it live, here are some activities you could do:

  • Draw the animal
  • Write a fact file
  • Write a character description
  • Count how many animals you see

Hello everyone!

Afterrnoon, I hope everyone has been keeping busy and safe. I can’t wait to hear all 4 Naismith’s stories.

Two weeks off from school has felt like a very long time and I miss my class a lot! I have been keeping busy by cleaning my house lots and lots. I have also been baking many things ( all including chocolate – 4 Naismith know how much I like chocolate). I have even started to learn sign language. I have told my class many times that I would love to learn sign language and this seemed like the perfect time to start my new skill. This week I have focused on the alphabet and numbers 1-10. Do you think you could have a try?

If you are stuck on things to do during this time, have a look at the pictures/ ideas attached below. You can complete these with your grown ups over several days/ weeks. I can’t wait to see some of your ideas!

Finally, I am sharing the story we read together on our last day to remind you that you are all superheros and helping very much by staying at home.

Science day

During science days, we have been focusing on solids, liquids and gases. We looked at many exciting experiments, some involving chocolate!!! We looked at changing the state of matter ( from a solid piece of chocolate to a liquid/ melted piece of chocolate). We look forward to more exciting experiments. 😊
