Morning Nursery children

It is another lovely, sunny day and I hope you are all well and happy.

Did you enjoy your magic painting yesterday ?

For today’s activity I want you to think about the shapes that we have been learning about. You will need your grown-up to cut out a set of shapes for you: a circle, a square, a rectangle and a triangle.

Can you remember the name of each shape and what its features are ? Here are the shape rhymes to help you. (The tune for the rhyme is ‘The farmers in his den’)

**Circle**

A circles like the sun,

A circles like the sun,

Round and round, it never stops,

A circles like the sun.

**Square**

A square is a shape,

A square is a shape,

It has four sides their all the same,

A square is a shape.

**Triangle**

A triangle has three sides,

A triangle has three sides,

Up the mountain down and back,

A triangle has three sides.

**Rectangle**

A rectangle has four sides,

A rectangle has four sides,

Two are short and two are long,

A rectangle has four sides.

Once you have remembered the four shapes, I would like you to go around your house and see if you can find:

4 things that have a **circle **shape.

4 things that have a **square **shape.

4 things that have a **triangle** shape.

4 things that have a **rectangle** shape.

Which shape was the hardest to find ? Which shape was the easiest ?

After finding the shapes indoors, go outside into the garden and see if you can find the four shapes outdoors too.

Let me know how you get. Happy shape hunting !!!

Thinking of you all
